- Leadership and Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a small team of cable installers, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety standards.
- Delegate tasks effectively, monitor team progress, and provide hands-on support as needed.
- Train team members on new technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Plan, install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5 and CAT6 Ethernet and fiber optics.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of existing cabling systems in commercial environments.
- Ensure all installations meet industry standards and client specifications.
- Project Oversight:
- Coordinate with project managers and clients to develop and execute cabling plans for new installations and upgrades.
- Conduct site surveys, assess requirements, and create accurate project timelines.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure project efficiency.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including cabling schematics, test results, and client reports.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in low-voltage cabling installations in commercial environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling systems, including installation, termination, and testing.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in cabling installations, such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, cable testers, and crimping tools.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate small teams of installers, manage workflows, and meet deadlines.
- Certifications:
- Relevant industry certifications such as BICSI Technician, FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), or equivalent are preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
