Job Overview:
The Automation Engineer is a key technical role within the Central Services team, focused on designing, developing, and implementing AI-driven solutions and automation processes to optimize the deployment and management of client-facing software tools. Reporting to the VP of Central Services, this position collaborates with engineers and other stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency, improve software tool functionality, and streamline workflows through innovative automation and AI technologies. A critical part of this role involves executing and refining these automated processes during new customer onboardings and offboardings, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition for clients.  The role supports the organization’s goals of scalability, data integrity, and exceptional customer experiences with tools such as Ninja, ScalePad, Liongard, Breach Secure Now, Keeper, Sophos, Auvik, and others.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. AI Solution Development:
    • Design and develop AI models and algorithms to support automation of software tool deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
    • Implement machine learning and predictive analytics to improve decision-making and proactively address potential issues in software tools.
  2. Automation Implementation:
    • Create and maintain automation scripts, workflows, and processes to streamline the deployment and management of client-facing tools.
    • Automate repetitive tasks related to software tool configuration, updates, and performance monitoring to increase efficiency.
  3. Onboarding & Offboarding Execution:
    • Actively participate in new customer onboarding by deploying the standard toolset, utilizing and validating established automation workflows.
    • Manage the systematic removal and decommissioning of software tools and agents during customer offboarding, ensuring data integrity and security protocols are strictly followed.
    • Continuously refine onboarding and offboarding automation based on real-world application to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  4. Tool Integration and Optimization:
    • Collaborate with the Central Services team to integrate AI and automation solutions with client-facing tools like Ninja, ScalePad, Liongard, Breach Secure Now, Keeper, Sophos, Auvik, and others.
    • Optimize tool performance by leveraging automation to reduce manual intervention and ensure consistent operation.
    • Proactively identify and remediate configuration drift and data integrity issues within and between integrated tools to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
  5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze data from software tools to identify patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or AI-driven improvements, paying special attention to onboarding and offboarding metrics.
    • Provide actionable insights and reports to the VP of Central Services to support strategic decision-making.
  6. Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Troubleshoot issues related to automation scripts, AI models, and software tool integrations, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
    • Support the central services team in resolving complex technical challenges related to automation and AI systems.
  7. Innovation and Research:
    • Stay current with emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and automation technologies, recommending new tools or approaches to enhance Central Services operations.
    • Experiment with and prototype innovative solutions to address evolving business and customer needs.
  8. Collaboration and Documentation:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers and support engineers, to align automation initiatives and ensure seamless tool deployment during customer onboarding and removal during offboarding.
    • Document automation processes, AI models, and integration workflows to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, or automation engineering, with a focus on software tool integration or deployment.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with AI/ML frameworks and expertise in automation tools.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with client-facing software tools (e.g., Ninja, ScalePad, Liongard, Sophos, Auvik) or similar platforms is a plus.  Experience with MSP/MSSP customers onboarding and offboarding procedures is highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Should be obsessed with working smarter not harder while maintaining a servant leader mentality and GSD Attitude.
  • Projects: Proven ability to manage complex technical projects with excellent problem-solving skills.
